Second Helping

The second Quilt Gathering was held at Aunt Jo's house in North Central Washington. Relatives from all over the Northwest gathered again to share news of their projects, plans, share laughter and stories.

Aunt Jo had brand new raised beds in her side yard this year when the Quilt Gathering arrived. With her picnic table and yard swing nestled into the open areas around the raised beds and brickwork, it was a calm and quiet place to relax to enjoy a cup of warm beverage and the morning sun while the house was waking up in the morning.

A notable happening at the Quilt Gathering this year was that Jean, who was unable to escape work, emailed digital pictures of projects she had completed over the year. After the pictures had been sent, Jean called to describe each picture by speaker phone. (Very technologically advanced for this crowd. Boy, were we impressed!) The pictures of Jean's projects along with her detailed descriptions were wonderful.

Again this year the group descended upon downtown Omak to visit Needlelyn Time.

The project for this gathering was to complete the sample quilt block that had been taylor-made for each person by AUnt Mary. She had taken the time to select a quilt block with the pre-cut fabric enclosed with a sketch of the quilt block for each person. For example, Aunto Jo got bunnies, Melissa got bamboo and panda bears. Edie's block included chickens, of course, and Jennifer's block had fabric with hand tools on it. Mary Jo and her advanced quilting skill got the most complicated block with thirty-two pieces!

Another special thank you to Aunt Jo for opening her home and welcoming us to gather again this year.
